Precinct 58 is the transformative redevelopment of Bundaberg’s former Fire Station and Rural Fire Station – purchased by Bridges in 2022 – and reimagined through Bridges as both a head office and a radiant hub for arts, culture, and wellbeing in the heart of the CBD.
In early 2025, Bridges secured $1.91 million in funding from the Australian Government’s Growing Regions Program, matched by a 50% contribution from Bridges, to bring this vision vividly to life.
The precinct will honour its heritage while creating spaces that inspire connection and creativity. Murals, interpretive signage, artefact displays, interactive storytelling technology, and guided tours will bring the station’s rich history to life. Alongside this, flexible studios, creative workspaces, and presentation areas will support visual, performing, and digital arts, giving people a place not only to experience creativity but to actively participate in it. Community events and performances will showcase local talent, while a welcoming café will provide a social heart where people can gather, connect, and feel inspired.

Much more than a redevelopment, Precinct 58 is a project that blends heritage with innovation. Bridges has already been investing in architectural concepts, council approvals, and preparatory works, while preserving the stories of the fire station through an oral history project funded by the Regional Arts Development Fund. As Bridges CEO Sharon Sarah describes it, the precinct will be
“a beacon for creativity and wellbeing, integrating arts and cultural initiatives to support mental health and foster social connection.”
