About BridgeWorx

BridgeWorx is the creative wellbeing social enterprise of Bridges Health & Community Care. We set a bold and transformative agenda to enhance community connection, liveability, and wellbeing through creativity.

At the heart of BridgeWorx is the belief that creativity is a powerful tool for positive change. By offering programs in performing arts, digital media, visual arts, and community events, we provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to build skills, share stories, and strengthen connections.

Our purpose is simple but impactful: to use creative experiences as a preventative approach that supports mental health, opens career pathways, and fosters a vibrant local creative industry. Every initiative we deliver contributes to stronger, more resilient communities where people can thrive.

Our work to date

1997

Bridges Founded

The organisation is established in Bundaberg. This would eventually grow to include offices in Rockhampton, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Kingaroy and Gayndah.

Clubhouse Model

During these years, key public art projects at our Millbank offices and exhibitions were "Art as Recovery", "Open Minds". "Behind the Mask", "Express Yourself" and the "500 Words Writing Group" as well as digital storytelling and ABC podcasting projects using the voices of lived experience. The Clubhouse was closed down during COVID due to risk to clients with co-occuring health issues.

Tag a Mate, Take a Break

This project was supported as a drought resilience and wellbeing initiative for rural communities. A major component engaged women in dance, drumming, journalling and visual arts for connection and support while Rugby League legend Shane Webke shared stories of resilience to local men.
